The Union Territory of Lakshadweep taken lead in Mid Day Meal in 1950’s as State Programme serving hot cooked meal to school going children studying from Pre-Primary to elementary stages. From 2007-2008 the UT Administration extended the programme up to X standard and from 2008-09 again the programme extended to XII standard. Advent of National Programme of MDM in Schools by the GOI during 2004, UT Administration also participated in the National Programme of MDMS along with other States.
